The trail running routes in Hinterstoder
From bottom to top in one run
Höss long shot
Steep and long direct ascent from the valley station to the highest point of the ski area. The entire route has an average gradient of 16%. Partly very technical with roots and stones, surefootedness required.
#1 Longest section of the Höss Totale with steep to very steep passages. Mostly on hiking trails, but also numerous technical sections, only a few flatter sections. Mostly in the forest and therefore mainly in the shade.
#2 The second part is the steepest section with an average gradient of 17%. At the beginning it is rather flat to the valley station of the chairlift, then the remaining two thirds are very steep, partly on trails and at the end on a forest path to the reservoir pond.
#3 The last section leads up to 1,990 meters and is comparatively short and moderately steep. The run up the Schafkogel is particularly worthwhile because of the alpine terrain and the stunning views, although the terrain is technically demanding.

for absolute professionals
Höss-Wurzeralm connection
Scenically magnificent route in high alpine terrain which connects the two ski areas exclusively via trails through karst landscapes and stone pine forests. The route leads over the Schafkögel via the partially insured trail (A, B) up to the summit of the Schrocken (2281m). Then continue across the karstified high plateau and pine forests towards Wurzeralm.
ATTENTION: Surefootedness and a head for heights are essential for the ascent via the partially secured Schrocken ridge (A, B)
