The trail running routes on the Wurzeralm
from bottom to top in one run
Wurzeralm long shot
Steep and long direct ascent from the valley station to the highest point of the ski area. The route leads via the Wurzer downhill run and on via the Frauenkar downhill run to the mountain station in the Frauenkar at 1870m above sea level.
# 1 The first part of the Wurzeralm Totale leads almost exclusively via trials with steep to very steep passages along the Wurzer descent up to the mountain station of the Wurzeralm funicular with the surrounding alpine pastures.
# 2 The second part first leads slightly downhill along a gravel road to the valley station of the Frauenkarbahn, before continuing on trails that become increasingly steep and rocky to the highest point. Magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and karst landscape guaranteed.
for beginners & families
Teichlboden loop
Trail running for the whole family. Also suitable for children. Continuously flat route with moderate climbs on well-maintained paths. First slightly downhill around the largest upland moor in the eastern Limestone Alps, before the trail climbs slightly back to the starting point.
Trail running for advanced runners
Dümlerhütten loop
Beautiful loop past the crystal-clear Brunnsteiner Bergsee up to the Rote Wand Sattel, on to the Dümlerhütte and back to the starting point via the Hals Sattel. The route leads almost exclusively over partly stony and very steep trails, both on the ascent and descent. Surefootedness required. A short detour to the nearby summit of the Rote Wand is very rewarding.
for absolute professionals
Wurzeralm-Höss connection
ATTENTION: Surefootedness and a head for heights are essential for the descent via the partially secured Schrockengrat (A, B). Scenic route in high alpine terrain which connects the two ski areas exclusively via trails through karst landscapes and stone pine forests. First in the direction of Frauenkar, the route continues through beautiful stone pine forests and over the karstic high plateau to the summit of the Schrocken (2281m). Now follows the technically difficult descent via the partially secured Schrockengrat ridge (A, B).
