The ascent trail in detail

Length: 3 km | 600 vertical meters

The ascent trail leads from the specially signposted parking lot shortly after the Wurzeralm or from the valley station/arena of the funicular to the middle station. The trail begins on the left-hand side with a separate passage for piste skiers and leads over a small bridge, then always along the left-hand edge to the summer trail. This crosses the Wurzer descent no. 1 after approx. 300m.

Continue along the right-hand side to the valley station of the Schwarzeck T-bar lift. Here you have the option of either ascending along the right-hand edge to the top station of the Schwarzeck T-bar lift or going directly to the ski huts.

The ascent trail is signposted along the entire route.
Please note: For safety reasons, skiing on the Gammering descent is prohibited!

Tips and rules for snowshoeing

Setting off without a guide? Then it is all the more important to observe a few important principles:

  • Plan carefully, as tours off the snowshoe trail are not secured.
  • Without a guide, always choose a tour destination adapted to your ability.
  • Keep the risk of avalanches in mind at all times.
  • Always inform yourself about game reserves and restricted areas and respect them.
  • Adapt your own behavior to the unsecured alpine terrain.
  • Obtain permission from landowners for commercial use (guided snowshoe tours).

Very important: Snowshoe hikes without a guide are at your own risk!

Practical: Equipment is available directly at the valley station at Intersport Pachleitner.

Your way to cross-country skiing bliss

What's the best way to reach the high-altitude trail in the Wurzeralm ski area? Simply take the funicular to the mountain station. From there, follow ski trail no. 8 under the bridge and turn right at the next ski trail junction. Ski trail number 10 now leads to the Linzerhaus. This is not only recommended for a cozy stop, but is also in the immediate vicinity of the start of the high-altitude trail.

Important: The high-altitude trail can only be reached by funicular. Winter hikers can also enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama on the skating trail. Special care is therefore required! In addition to the free high-altitude trail, there are other cross-country ski trails in Spital am Pyhrn that are subject to a fee. In the entire Pyhrn-Priel vacation region, cross-country skiers always stay on track on around 120 kilometers of trails.
